Downhill Family

My daughter and I drove home from Snowshoe yesterday. It’s always a little sad having to pack up and drive down the mountain. We always leave with very few snacks in the car to sustain us for the long drive home. It can feel bleak. But yesterday, we happened to find a great little sandwich shop and cake shop in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. It was a true bright spot in our day. The names of the businesses are The Cake Box and The Lunch Box. Both shops are apparently under the same ownership and they abut each other and are located just across the street from The School House boutique hotel. The food was delicious and fairly priced. I had the Roma (a fancy turkey sandwich) and my daughter had a pepperoni roll. The Cake Box is adorable with beautiful sweets and miniature homeware products for homemade dioramas. The decor was cheeky and bubbly and a wonderful surprise.

The parking lot was plenty big for the SUV with bike rack. The service was just the right pace for us to stretch our legs, use the bathroom and walk the dog. This is going to a regular stop on our trips to Snowshoe.
