Winter Pack List
This is a brain dump of items you may want to pack for your family for a winter downhill trip. These items are things that would stay at your condo or hotel room. You may not need or want all of the items on the list, especially if you are flying to your destination.
- Food: snacks, breakfast foods especially if you are different time zone and will be waking up before the restaurants open.
- First aid and OTC pain relief.
- Vaseline and good lotion.
- Dry soup packets (optional)
- Sun screen.
- Allergy medicine.
- Feminine products.
- Hair brush and detangled and hair ties (helmets cause horrible matting so hair care is important).
- Toiletries including lotion and chap stick.
- Devices, chargers and cords.
- Reading glasses.
- Clorox wipes in case anyone comes down with a contagious virus while your family is sharing potentially tight living space.
- A ziplock with a few laundry and dishwasher pods.
- Paper plates
- Pump handsoap (optional but nice to have)
- Swim suit in case your condo has a heated pool or hot tub.
- Homework material.
- For younger children, arts and crafts materials to keep them busy while not on the slopes.
- Warm pajamas and warm socks or soft house shoes.
- Refillable water bottles, lunch box and snack packs to pack food for day camps or lessons.
- Books and/or magazines.
- Walkie-talkies (where cells phone service is poor).
- When traveling with a pet: all pet food, treats, bedding, collar, leash and bowls. Snow shoes for dogs are very nice.
- Snow boots and/or yak traks (very important! busting your ass on ice is a real possibility!).
- Children’s lovies and stuffies because trying a new experience can be a lot and they may need a little snuggle time to get through it.
- A multi-tool that can used in case you have to adjust the tension on bindings
These are things to think about and sort of research:
- Nearest grocery store and/or grocery delivery service
- Nearest convenient care, pharmacy or ER
- Restaurants that will be actually opened during your visit. For some resorts, not all restaurants are open all year long, or sometimes the restaurants can not accommodate holiday crowds or they have limited menus or slow service.
- I always ask about access to coffee with our accommodations. Our favorite coffee chain at our favorite resort does not open until 8am. EIGHT. A.M.!!
